About
I am an Oakland-based, Miami-born, Cuban-American artist. I work in charcoal, graphite, pen/ink, and oils, centered around figurative and naturalist realms.
The figurative realm is used to explore the complex meanings of eroticism–beyond sex, beyond nudity; what does it mean to objectify or fetishize, what constitutes appreciation/lust in the act of looking?
The naturalist realm is used to explore the impossible task of pinning down a static image of an ephemeral world; clouds and birds are inevitably carried on the wind, flowers wither and die.
In addition to my art-making practice, I am also an art instructor and community builder. I have run the erotic figure drawing event Mancrush Mondays in the Bay Area (and recently virtually) since 2018.
