I am a big believer in the argument made originally by Charles Darwin and now by Richard Prum that birds are the biggest drivers of the evolution of beauty in the natural world.
They are–sometimes secretly–all around us, displaying an endless variety of color, form, and texture. Finding and drawing birds is also part of my practice to root my art in the places it’s created–where I live and where I visit.
Clouds are an omnipresent form of ephemeral natural beauty.
On my travels I stare at the clouds. In Iceland they sit like mountains in the sky. In Miami they breeze past or flash with lightning.
Capturing all of this complexity continues to provide inspiration.
Erotic drawings are my way of learning and appreciating anatomy and the human form. What about the aesthetics of the human body evokes feelings of lust or desire? What are the shapes that make the body beautiful?
